The U.S. electrical grid is an aging system whose reliability, efficiency, security, and overall reach are inadequate to accommodate increased energy demand and new and distributed generation in the coming decades. By 2030, the Edison Electricity Institute estimates that there will be between $1.5 and $2.0 trillion spent upgrading and rebuilding the grid. Technology, private investment, and policy and regulation will play major roles in determining how this grid unfolds. This conference brings together members form each of these domains to think through the many components feeding into this massive infrastructure upgrade.
