Join us in discussing the career journey of UChicago alumna Katherine Baird.
Katherine Baird is an economist working in the CAFE program at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center at the DOT. She leads statistical modeling in the areas of safety and sales as well as assists with sensitivity analysis methodology. Prior to working at the DOT, Katherine researched with the University of Washington and was Assistant Instructional Professor at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. While there, she taught courses in industrial organization and regulation, cost-benefit analysis, game theory, and statistics. Her personal research interests include funding mechanisms for climate change adaptation, as well as how markets incorporate disaster-related risk. She has served as a NORC Fellow and has researched with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs. Katherine holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago as well as a Masters in Education and a Masters in Economics from University of Illinois at Chicago.
