“U.S. EPA Region 5 Administrator Susan Hedman will make a presentation about EPA’s Clean Power Plan proposal, which will cut carbon pollution from existing power plants, the single largest source of carbon pollution in the United States. With the Clean Power Plan, EPA is proposing guidelines that build on trends already underway in states and the power sector to cut carbon pollution from existing power plants, making them more efficient and less polluting. Students will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Hedman questions following the presentation.”

The Harris Energy Association’s (HEA) goal is simple: to connect students, alumni, and faculty, to the people, institutions, and ideas that are shaping the future of energy policy. We work to complement––not duplicate––the efforts of EPIC, Chicago Harris, and the University with a particular emphasis on providing Harris students support and networking opportunities with University communities, alumni, and beyond. In the past HEA has hosted Energy on Tap, an informal conversation with faculty and others on their research, alumni events, student panels on energy relate courses, and outside speakers. Through these efforts we strive to elevate the reputation of energy research at Chicago Harris.
The Chicago Environmental Policy Association (CEPA) is a Harris Student Organization designed to expand the academic experience and provide professional opportunities for students interested in environmental policy. Past events include: a professionally led mini-course on environmental advocacy, trips to Argonne National Laboratory, the Jardine Water Purification Plant and the state capitol, professional networking events, career talks, academic talks and academic guidance.
