The energy sector is undergoing revolutionary changes with the introduction of abundant, lower-cost energy sources like shale oil and gas and solar and wind—a trend owed largely to tremendous technological improvements in recent years. With resources and prices in a state of flux, and increasing policy uncertainty under the Trump administration, accurately forecasting the future of the industry has never been more important, or challenging.

How can government data and forecasts improve to meet the demands of this era of change? What role has technology played in the energy landscape in recent years, and what role could it play in the future? And, will policies introduced by President Trump – including his recent executive order that shifts the focus from climate mitigation to energy security – change the energy outlook?

To answer these questions and more, EPIC hosted a conversation with the former administrator of the U.S. Energy Information Administration Adam Sieminski on March 29th.
